Dried Orange Garlands

Bake orange slices at 200 degrees for 3-4 hours. Let them cool completely, then help your kids string them up with twine and let them choose where to hang around your home! You’ll have a gorgeous decoration, and they will get to be a part of it from start to finish!

Gingerbread Houses

Check your grocery store for gingerbread kits--they make it much easier! Grab some extra gumdrops and m&ms and let your kids go to town. Gingerbread houses really bring out the creativity of your whole family, and the activity can become a cherished memory.

Paper Snowflakes

Cut a circle out of a sheet of white paper, then fold it in half 3 times so you get a skinny triangle. Then, let your kids cut shapes out of the triangle, so that when you unfold the circle it looks like a snowflake!

Snow Shoeing

Experience the excitement of snowshoeing through fresh powder in North Idaho. The Centennial Trail is perfect for beginners and families, offering scenic views and easy access for creating lasting memories. Farragut State Park is a great place for a winter hike too.

Dog Sled Race

The U.S. Pacific Coast Championship Sled Dog Race has been a tradition at Priest Lake for over 35 years. Annually, 75 to 100 teams from across North America, including Alaska and Canada, converge on the west side of the lake to compete.

Ski or Board or Tube

There are numerous ski resorts scattered throughout the North Idaho Panhandle. Whether you prefer skiing, snowboarding, tubing, or cross-country skiing, the three local resorts offer breathtaking views and exceptional experiences.

Ice Skating

Head to the CDA on Ice skating rink in Coeur d’Alene for an unforgettable family experience. This annual event is the perfect way to start a family tradition, especially around the New Year after all the holiday events are over!

Snowy Photoshoot

Snowy winter days can be the BEST time for a family photoshoot. The backdrop is gorgeous, the kids have fun playing in the snow, and the photos end up looking natural and joy-filled. Schedule a January photoshoot to take advantage of the season!

Sleigh Ride

There are few things more magical than a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow. The Western Pleasure Guest Ranch offers this one of a kind experience through December, and it’s a fun date night or whole family activity!
